Message from the United States Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Georgia regarding Coronavirus Preparedness

Monday, March 9, 2020

The United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia is complying with the specific instructions provided by the Centers for Disease Control (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html) and is monitoring the website for any recommended actions.  In the meantime, we ask that the public also comply with the CDC Guidelines as a means to protect yourself and others.  Additionally, we want to make you aware of some specific precautions being taken by the Bankruptcy Court in the Richard B. Russell Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse (RBR), and the other courthouses in the Northern District of Georgia.

In the RBR:
Hand sanitizer machines are in the elevator lobbies on floors 12, 13 and 14.
Hand sanitizer dispensers are in all courtrooms and at the public counter on the 13th floor.
The maintenance staff contracted by the GSA has been instructed to sanitize the courtroom tables and benches daily.  Nevertheless, the public’s use of hand sanitizer when entering and leaving the courtroom will be most helpful.

In the Newnan, Rome and Gainesville courthouses:
Hand sanitizer dispensers are in the courtrooms and at the public counters.

In person visits to the courthouses or attendance at court hearings:
If you or your client(s) have a particular concern about coming to the Court for a scheduled hearing or trial, please contact the chambers of the assigned judge for assistance.  Please check the Judges’ Chambers pages on the Court’s website  (www.ganb.uscourts.gov) as specific instructions may have been added.

For general questions or concerns about something other than a scheduled hearing or trial, please email info@ganb.uscourts.gov for assistance.

We will provide updates as warranted and thank you for your cooperation.

M. Regina Thomas
